OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burns:   a) JBS Foods, Inc., 800 N. 8th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631: On or before February 11, 2021, the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to thermal burns when washing down the tripe table in Offal, Harvest Floor, using 180 degree Fahrenheit red water hoses and < 140 degree Fahrenheit blue water hoses without a standard operating procedure with clear steps for using the hot water hoses that has safety precautions, on which people assigned the task of cleaning with the hot water are trained, and that is implemented and regularly audited for effectiveness. This condition exposed employees to the hazards of thermal burns.

29 CFR  1910.132(d)(1)(iii): The employer did not select PPE that properly fits each affected employee. Note: Non-mandatory Appendix B contains an example of procedures that would comply with the requirement for a hazard assessment:   a)  JBS Foods, Inc., 800 N. 8th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631:  On or before February 11, 2021, the employer did not select PPE that properly fits each affected employee.  Employees were observed wearing boots that were too large, not wearing gators, and wearing aprons that were too short while working in Offal on the Harvest Floor.  Employees use hot water ranging from 140 to 180 degree Fahrenheit during cleanup operations. This condition exposed employees to the hazards of thermal burns.
