OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to burns:   a) JBS Foods, Inc., 800 N. 8th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631: On or before February 11, 2021, the employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to thermal burns when washing down the tripe table in Offal, Harvest Floor, using 180 degree Fahrenheit red water hoses and < 140 degree Fahrenheit blue water hoses without a standard operating procedure with clear steps for using the hot water hoses that has safety precautions, on which people assigned the task of cleaning with the hot water are trained, and that is implemented and regularly audited for effectiveness. This condition exposed employees to the hazards of thermal burns.

Employees stated that they do not wear rain suits when washing the tripe table with a red hose containing 180 degree Fahrenheit water.  This condition exposed employees to the hazards of thermal burns.  b)  JBS Foods, Inc., 800 N. 8th Ave, Greeley, CO 80631:  On or before February 11, 2021, the employer did not ensure that employees wore gators when wearing pants inside their boots on the Harvest Floor on A-Shift per the area PPE Matrix.  Employees were observed to not be wearing gators when working on the Harvest Floor.  This condition exposed employees to the hazards of thermal burns.
