29 CFR  1910.132(d)(1): The employer shall assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). If such hazards are present, or likely to be present, the employer shall:   WORKSITES/SANITATION: On or about 2/11/21, the employer had not assessed the hazards in the workplace and selected appropriate types of personal protective equipment (PPE) for the  tasks assigned. Employees preparing dilutions of  caustic/corrosive cleaning agents such as,  Terragreen Degreaser and Unicide 256 were not provided appropriate chemical resistant gloves.

29 CFR  1910.1200(h)(1):  Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area.  WORKSITES/SANITATION: On or about 2/11/21, the employer had not provided effective training to the janitorial employees on the chemicals in their work area. Training was provided in English to Spanish-speaking employees and did not include the hazards of each chemical and how to detect and protect themselves from exposure. Some employees did not receive training at all. Chemicals in the work area include Unicide 256, which is corrosive in its concentrated form, and Terragreen Degreaser, which is caustic in its concentrated form.

29 CFR  1910.1200(f)(6)(ii):  Except as provided in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(7) and 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(8), the employer did not ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace was labeled, tagged or marked with the product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, would provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemicals.   WORKSITES/SANITATION:  On or about 2/11/21, the employer did not include the appropriate information on the labels, such as the hazards associated with the material.
