(a) The employer did not ensure the minimum Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) required to handle hazardous chemicals while performing the plating task.

(a)	On or about February 23, 2021, on the Fine Jewelry Repair Shop's workbenches, employees were permitted to consume the beverage in the area(s) exposed to toxic materials.

29 CFR 1910.303(b)(2): Listed or labeled electrical equipment was not used or installed in accordance with instructions included in the listing or labeling:  On or around February 23, 2021, at the Fine Jewelry Repair Shop and in the vault area, employees were exposed to electrical hazards. The areas where relocatable power taps were misused are the following:  (a) In the vault area, two relocatable power taps were connected in series (daisy-chained) to a second relocatable power tap to power the computer, monitor, printer, light, heater, diamond tester, microscope, spindle, and other equipment.  (b) In the Fine Jewelry Repair shop, power tabs were zip-tied to the workstations' metal legs to supply power to sonicators, lights, scope, foot pedal, plater, fume, and dust collector, and other equipment. At least one power tab was near the sink.

29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6): Workplace labeling. Except as provided in paragraphs (f)(7) and (f)(8) of this section, the employer did not ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace is labeled, tagged, or marked with either: (i) The information specified under paragraphs (f)(1)(i) through (v) of this section for labels on shipped containers; or, (ii) Product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or a combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals, and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, will provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemical.   (a) On or about February 23, 2021, at the Fine Jewelry Repair Shop's workbenches, employees were exposed to injurious corrosive and toxic materials that were not appropriately labeled to warn employees about the hazardous nature of the contents. The secondary containers were labeled with generic chemical contents but lacked hazard warnings that conveyed the chemical's hazardous nature.  (b) On or about February 23, 2021, under the Fine Jewelry Repair Shop's workbench, employees were exposed to a hazardous chemical that was not labeled to warn employees of the hazardous nature of the container contents.

29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8): The employer shall maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical, and shall ensure that they are readily accessible during each work shift to employees when they are in their work area(s). (Electronic access and other alternatives to maintaining paper copies of the safety data sheets are permitted as long as no barriers to immediate employee access in each workplace are created by such options.)  (a) On or about February 23, 2020, the employer did not maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheet for each hazardous chemical and did not ensure the new format and types of information on the section of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS) by December 1, 2013.
