UPS Metro Queens Facility: Employees performing auto repairs and maintenance duties were exposed to hazardous chemicals such as, but not limited to belt dressing aerosols containing hexane, Rohper+LSPR 6pk silver aluminum containing xylenes, Kwik-Solv(VOC) containing acetone. Safety data sheets were not made readily available; On or about 2/27/2021. Note: The employer is required to submit abatement certification for this item in accordance with 29 CFR 1903.19

29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6)(ii): Except as provided in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(7) and 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(8), the employer did not ensure that each container of hazardous chemicals in the workplace was labeled, tagged, or marked with the product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, which provide at least general information regarding the hazards of the chemicals and which, in conjunction with the other information immediately available to employees under the hazard communication program, would provide employees with the specific information regarding the physical and health hazards of the hazardous chemicals. a. UPS Metro Queens Facility- Mechanic Shop: Employees were exposed to unknown substances stored in unlabeled spray bottles. The bottles were not tagged or marked with the product identifier and words, pictures, symbols, or combination thereof, and information regarding physical and health hazard; on or about 2/24/2021. Note: Because abatement of this violation is already documented in the case file, the employer need not submit certification or documentation of abatement for this violation as normally required by CFR 1903.19.
