29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: Employees working in the production area, on lines 4 and 7 were exposed to amputation and caught-in hazards while operating the equipment listed below, in that guards were missing at the point of operation, and in going nip points. A) The saw table, Quality Profile Property number 142, on line four was missing the guard exposing employees to the point of operation, where the saw table blade would automatically cut plastic material to an identified length. The missing guard opening was approximately 7 and 1/2 inches wide, and 2 and 1/2 inches in height. The distance of 3 and 1/4 inches from the point of operation of the automatic saw blade. B) The two red conveyers, number 16 and unknown number, on line 7 were missing guards exposing employees to caught-in, ingoing nip points, and rotating parts.
