29 CFR 1926.964(a)(2): Before allowing employees to subject elevated structures, such as poles or towers, to such stresses as climbing or the installation or removal of equipment may impose, the employer did not ascertain that the structures are capable of sustaining the additional or unbalanced stresses. If the pole or other structure cannot withstand the expected loads, the employer did not brace or otherwise support the pole or structure so as to prevent failure. a) Montana-Dakota Resource Group, Inc, Marsh St, Long: 47.08028, Lat: 104.73660, Glendive MT: On or about March 11, 2021, and at times prior, employees were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 30 feet to the ground below while retiring the existing conductors from existing structures. The employer failed to ensure that pole could sustain the additional stresses prior to climbing.
