29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1): Each employee on a working/walking surface (horizontal and vertical surface) with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet ( 1.8m ) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems: Site: Pier 76 at 408 12th Ave in New York, NY. On or about 3/16/2021, a) Workers were walking on the second floor as part of a lead abatement procedure. During the procedure one worker inspecting the mezzanine steel for lead paint removal fell 20 feet below on the 1st level. The workers were not protected from falling by the use of guardrails, safety net system, or by personal fall arrest systems.
