29 CFR 1926.453(b)(2)(v): Extensible and articulating boom platforms. A body belt shall be worn and a lanyard attached to the boom or basket when working from an aerial lift. Note to paragraph (b)(2)(v): As of January 1, 1998, subpart M of this part (1926.502(d) provides that body belts are not acceptable as part of a personal fall arrest system. a) On March 29, 2021 at 10612 Hwy 42 in Sister Bay, Wisconsin, two employees were working from a JLG 660SJ telescopic boom lift basket at twenty-five feet above surface level without utilizing personal fall arrest systems. b) On March 29, 2021 at 10612 Hwy 42 in Sister Bay, Wisconsin, an employee was operating a JLG 660SJ telescopic boom lift relocating it to the next work area riding in the basket without utilizing a personal fall arrest system.
