29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Rocky Mountain Steel, Inc. at 59883 Hwy. 50 Olathe, CO 81425: On or before 4/7/21 the employer did not ensure the Sears drill press was equipped with a chip guard. This condition exposed employees to hot chips. (b) Rocky Mountain Steel, Inc. at 59883 Hwy. 50 Olathe, CO 81425: On or before 4/7/21 the employer did not ensure the Piranha hydraulic punch press [model PII110] was equipped with a guard. The point of operation lacked a guard. This condition exposed employees to amputation hazards. Abatement Note: Abatement certification and documentation are required for this item. See enclosed "Certification of Corrective Actions Worksheet."
