29 CFR 1910.213(a)(9): All belts, pulleys, gears, shafts, and moving parts shall be guarded in accordance with the specific requirements of 1910.219. a) RDU LLC dba Boyds Gunstock Industries at 25376 403rd Avenue, Mitchell, SD 57301. On or about and at times prior to April 8, 2021, the employer did not ensure that all belts, pulleys, gears, shafts, and moving parts were guarded as required on the rear of the Zuckermann machines. Multiple belt and pulley motors were exposed approximately three feet above the ground. This condition exposed employees to caught-in hazards associated with the in-going nip points.

29 CFR 1910.213(r)(3):The point of operation on combination or universal woodworking machines was not guarded: (a) RDU LLC dba Boyds Gunstock Industries at 25376 403rd Avenue, Mitchell, SD 57301: On or about and at times prior to April 8, 2021, the employer did not ensure that the Zuckerman turning centers were effectively guarded at the point of operation. Employees were able to access the operating area while the machines were in operation. This condition exposed the employees to struck-by and caught-in hazards associated with the spindles, sanders, and cutting heads. (b) RDU LLC dba Boyds Gunstock Industries at 25376 403rd Avenue, Mitchell, SD 57301: On or about and at times prior to April 8, 2021, the employer did not ensure that the rear of the Carver machines 1 thru 4 were effectively guarded. Employees were able to access the rear areas of the machines while they were in operation and exposed employees to struck-by hazards associated with the machine operations and travel.
