29 CFR 1910.179(j)(3): A complete periodic inspection of crane(s) had not been conducted in the past 12 months. On or about June 22, 2021 and at times prior there to, the employer did not ensure that a periodic inspection was performed on the hoists. This exposed employees to struck-by hazards. a. The hoist in the batching area, 2 ton hoist, was not inspected on a periodic basis. b. The hoist in the batching area, 1.5 ton hoist, was not inspected on a periodic basis.

1910.145(c)(3) Safety instruction signs. Safety instruction signs were not used where there is a need for general instructions and suggestions relative to safety measures. On or about April 19, 2021 and at times prior there to, the employer did not ensure that the batching area was equipped with signs posted with safety instructions for the safe lifting of totes containing dry ingredients. Among other methods of feasible abatement and acceptable means of abatement would be to include the addition of signage to the batching area that includes specific language for the safe lifting of totes.
