29 CFR 1910.243(c)(1):Abrasive wheel(s) were used on portable grinder(s) which were not provided with safety guard(s) meeting the requirements specified in 29 CFR 1910.243(c)(1) through (c)(4): Grinding and Welding Area: On or about April 20, 2021, employees were exposed to hazards such as flying particles that are associated with unguarded angle grinders. The angle grinder was used to frequently grind metal parts in the grinding and welding area.

29 CFR 1910.1026(d)(1):The employer with a workplace or work operation covered by this standard did not determine the 8-hour time-weighted average exposure for each employee exposed to chromium (VI). The employer is to make this determination in accordance with either paragraph (d)(2), the scheduled monitoring option, or paragraph (d)(3), the performance-oriented option. Company-Wide: On or about April 20, 2021, the employer did not determine employee exposure to hexavalent chromium while performing TIG welding operations on stainless steel parts in the welding and grinding area of the facility. Exposure levels at the time of OSHA's assessment resulted in concentrations at 1.5�g/m3 during an 8-hr time weighted average (TWA), which was below OSHA's permissible exposure limit (PEL).

29 CFR 1910.1200(e)(1):The employer did not develop, implement, and/or maintain at the workplace a written hazard communication program which describes how the criteria specified in 29 CFR 1910.1200(f), (g), and (h) will be met: Company-wide: On or about April 20, 2021, the employer did not develop a written hazardous communication program to address the hazardous chemicals and material stored and used in the facility. Some of the chemicals stored in the facility that are frequently used by employees to clean metal parts include the following: Shop Kleen, which is a highly flammable Category 1 and central nervous system Category 3 liquid and a machine coolant called TRIM SOL, which is an emulsion coolant that was labeled an eye irritant and is also used frequently for the drillers, lathes and Bridgeport milling machines in the facility.
