Employee(s) were exposed to contact with the drill point of operation/nip points, drill bit breakage, contact with flying chips, rotating parts and/or entanglement.

29 CFR 1910.243(c)(3): Abrasive wheels used on vertical portable grinder(s) (right angle head grinders) were not provided with safety guard(s) having a maximum exposure angle of 180 degrees and located between the operator and wheel: North Side Welding Shop, Table: On or before April 28, 2021 the employer did not ensure the portable DeWalt grinder was used with a guard. Employee(s) used the grinder for cutting, grinding and polishing. This condition exposed employees to contact with the wheel, wheel breakage, contact with projectiles, entanglement, and kickback hazard(s).

This condition interferes with access and immediate shutdown of a circuit in the panel, particularly in the event of an emergency. This condition exposed employees to an electrical and/or fire hazard(s).
