29 CFR 1910.157(c)(1): Portable fire extinguishers were not mounted, located and identified so that they were readily accessible without subjecting the employees to possible injuries. In the receiving and shipping department, the employer did not ensure the employees had clear access to the fire extinguishers at all times. Exposing employees to possible fire hazards: a) On May 18, 2021, fire extinguisher near the cardboard crusher was blocked by cardboards. b) On May 19, 2021, near the exit door, the fire extinguisher was blocked by a large floor fan an one box of merchandise on a pallet.

In the receiving and shipping department, the path to the north exit door was blocked exposing employees to possible entrapment and fire hazards; a) On May 18, 2021, exit door was blocked by two boxes of merchandise on pallets. b) On May 19, 2021, exit door was blocked by a large floor fan an one box of merchandise on a pallet. Lowe's Home Improvement was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1337512, citation number 002, item number 001, issued on December 24, 2018 and was affirmed as a final order on January 17, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 67 Eagle Road, Danbury, CT 06810.
