29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a): Facility- Line 4 Conveyor - One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator from hazards created from the ingoing nip point created by the conveyor and conveyor backstop. Employees grab products from the conveyor and place them into boxes for packaging. An employee suffered a fingertip amputation when he was grabbing products and his finger was caught in the ingoing nip point created by conveyor and backstop, on or about, June 23, 2021. There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.
