29 CFR 1910.138(b): The employer did not base selection of appropriate hand protection on an evaluation of the performance characteristics of the hand protection relative to the tasks to be performed, conditions present, duration of use, and the hazards and potential hazards identified: a) General Aluminum Manufacturing Co. on or about August 10, 2021, at the address of 13663 Short Rd. Wapakoneta, OH: Employees were assigned to cutting operations on an inadequately guarded band saw while utilizing loose fitting leather gloves. The use of these loose fitting gloves during these cutting operations contributed to caught-in hazards at or near the point of operation.

Wapakoneta, OH: The employer did not ensure the Northfield Vertical band saw was adequately guarded. Employees performing work tasks near the unguarded blade were exposed to amputation hazards.
