29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1)(i): The employer did not select and have each affected employee use the types of personal protective equipment that would protect the affected employee from the hazards identified in a hazard assessment. Facility: The employer did not ensure that the affected employee routinely used the class of glove the would have provided protection from a cut-by hazard, which should have been identified in a hazard assessment specifically for the task of checking tolerances of edged machine parts by hand. On or about April 8, 2021, an employee sustained a laceration to his right pointer finger while working with sharp metal edged machine parts.

29 CFR 1910.138(b): The employer did not ensure that an evaluation and selection of performance characteristics of hand protection relative to the task to be performed, conditions present, and duration of use, was sufficient for the potential hazards identified. Facility: The employer did not ensure that employees who are required to work with sharp edged metal machine parts were provided with a class of hand protection, that enables high finger dexterity. On or about April 8, 2021, an employee sustained a laceration to his index finger while working with sharp metal edged machine parts.
