29 CFR 1910.151(c):Where employees were exposed to injurious corrosive materials, suitable facilities for quick drenching or flushing of the eyes and body were not provided within the work area for immediate emergency use: a) TEM Misc. Prep Room: On or about 8/16/21, the employer did not provide eye wash stations with fifteen minutes of continuous flush in the laboratory with exposure to corrosive materials such as, but not limited to, hydrochloric acid. NOTE: IN ADDITION TO ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION, THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT DOCUMENTATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.

29 CFR 1910.141(g)(2):Employees were permitted to consume food or beverage in area(s) exposed to toxic materials: a) TEM Misc Prep Laboratory - On or about 9/13/21, beverages were observed on the benchtop where asbestos samples are prepared and chemicals including but not limited to, hydrochloric acid, are used and stored. b) Atomic Absorption Laboratory - On or about 9/13/21, beverages were observed on the benchtop where asbestos samples are prepared and chemicals including but not limited to, hydrochloric acid, are used. c) Polarized Light Microscopy PLM - On or about 9/13/21, beverages were observed on the benchtop where asbestos samples are prepared and chemicals including but not limited to, hydrochloric acid, are used. NOTE: THE EMPLOYER IS REQUIRED TO SUBMIT ABATEMENT CERTIFICATION FOR THIS ITEM. FAILURE TO COMPLY WILL RESULT IN AN ADDITIONAL PENALTY OF $1000.00 IN ACCORDANCE WITH 29 CFR 1903.19.
