29 CFR  1926.501(b)(1):Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems.  a) John Soules Food Facility: On or about September 9, 2021; and at times prior thereto; the controlling employer Professional Pipe, Inc. allowed its subcontractor Quinones Welding LLC to expose their employees to fall hazards. The employees were allowed to perform pipe fitting and welding activities on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge, which was 11 feet, 11 inches above the next lower level. The employer did not protect employees from fall hazards by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems or personal fall arrest systems.
