29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding were not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) Press Room - On or about August 26, 2021, the employer did not ensure that employees were adequately protected from rotating parts and ingoing nip points on equipment, such as the Glue Unit cylinders of Printing Press 20, 21, and 23. An incorrect single guard was installed over the ingoing nip point created by the impression and pad cylinders instead of the two piece nip point guard. No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
