Employees who fabricate kitchen hoods by welding carbon steel are potentially exposed to respiratory hazards.

29 CFR 1910.134(c)(2)(ii): The employer did not establish and implement those elements of a written program necessary to ensure that any employee using a respirator voluntarily was medically able to use that respirator, and that the respirator was cleaned, stored, and maintained so that its use does not present a health hazard to the user: a) Raw Urth Designs, Inc. 1203 Red Cedar Cir, Fort Collins, CO 80524: On or about October 4, 2022, medical evaluations were not a part of the company's respiratory protection program. Although respirator use was voluntary, employees performed welding, sanding, and grinding activities on carbon steel and various metals. Employees who worked with carbon steel during the fabrication of kitchen hoods used an N95 respirator and were thus potentially exposed to respiratory and physiological stress hazards.

29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(6): The employer used written materials, such as signs, placards, process sheets, or batch tickets in lieu of affixing labels to individual stationary process containers that failed to identify the container(s) to which they were applicable and did not convey the information required by 29 CFR 1910.1200(f)(5): a) Raw Urth Designs, Inc. 1203 Red Cedar Cir, Fort Collins, CO 80524: On or about October 4, 2022, the employer failed to ensure that chemicals used at the facility were properly labeled. Unlabeled chemicals used at the site include, but are not limited to, weld kleen anti-spatter and simple green. The chemicals were removed from their original containers and placed in containers that were not marked and/or properly labeled with product identifiers and hazard warning information for the contents within thus potentially exposing employees to chemical hazards.
