Unless identified for use in the operating environment, no conductors or equipment shall be located in damp or wet locations; where exposed to gases, fumes, vapors, liquids, or other agents that have a deteriorating effect on the conductors or equipment; or where exposed to excessive temperatures. On October 22, 2021, a cord, plug, and outlet behind the fryer was coated with excessive cooking oil buildup from oil that had been expelled from the fryer and exposed employees to potential shock and fire hazards.

29 CFR 1910.334(a)(2)(ii):If there is a defect or evidence of damage that might expose an employee to injury, the defective or damaged item shall be removed from service, and no employee may use it until repairs and tests necessary to render the equipment safe have been made. a. On or about October 22, 2021, a defective cord was in use on the food heater on the drive-thru side of the food preparation line, exposing employees to contact with electrical current. The cord for the food heater had a strain relief issue where the protective jacket had been pulled back from the conductors. b. On or about October 22, 2021, a defective cord was in use on the food heater on the side opposite of the drive-thru preparation line, exposing employees to contact with electrical current. The cord for the food heater was missing the equipment grounding conductor pin and showed a strain relief issue where the protective jacket had been pulled back from the conductors.
