29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. Employer did not ensure one or more methods of machine guarding was provided to effectively protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, crushing points, pinch points, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. R-Tape(Nekoosha) - 6 Ingersoll Road, South Plainfield NJ 07080 Employees engaged in production activities at the log winder machine were exposed to crushing hazards without the use of proper machine guarding methods that would prevent contact with moving parts. 29 CFR 1910.145(a)(1):The employer had not affixed any warning signs or labels that would apply to the design, application, and use of signs or symbols (as included in paragraphs (c) through (e) of this section) that indicate and, insofar as possible, define specific hazards that could harm workers . These specifications are intended to cover all safety signs except those designed for streets, highways, and railroads. These specifications do not apply to plant bulletin boards or to safety posters. R - Tape- Nekoosha - 6 Ingersoll Road, South Plainfield NJ 07080 Coater # 3 Log Winder machine does not have any safety warning labels affixed to warn employees of hazardous contact points.
