29 CFR 1910.132(d)(1): The employer did not assess the workplace to determine if hazards are present, or are likely to be present, which necessitate the use of personal protective equipment a) Facility: On or about November 30, 2021, employees were exposed to hazardous substances such as but not limited to Degreaser Extra, a corrosive chemical containing sodium hydroxide, in the workplace and the employer did not perform a hazard assessment to determine what personal protective equipment is necessary while performing job duties. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.

29 CFR 1910.138(a):The employer did not select and require employee(s) to use appropriate hand protection when employees' hands were exposed to hazards such as those from skin absorption of harmful substances; severe cuts or lacerations; severe abrasion; punctures; chemical burns; thermal burns; and harmful temperature extremes. a) Facility: On or about November 30, 2021, employees were exposed to corrosive substances such as but not limited to Degreaser Extra, a corrosive substance containing sodium hydroxide, while performing tank cleaning duties, and the employer did not require the use of hand protection to prevent exposure to these substances. Abatement certification required within 10 days after abatement date. The certification shall include a statement that abatement is complete, date and method of abatement, and states that employees and their representatives were informed of this abatement.
