1910.176(b) Secure storage. Storage of material shall not create a hazard. Bags, containers, bundles, etc., stored in tiers shall be stacked, blocked, interlocked and limited in height so that they are stable and secure against sliding or collapse. On or about December 1, 2021, employees were exposed to a struck-by hazard when the contents of a pallet of meat weighing approximately 600lbs was struck by a forklift and fell to the ground below. While an employee was working in aisle MBC picking meat RPCs (plastic crates where the meat is kept) from the pick slot, a forklift operator was pulling a pallet from reserve slot E on the opposite side of the double rack, the forklift operator struck the pallet in Slot E which caused the unsecured meat from slot E to fall onto the employee picking below.
