29 CFR  1910.95(c)(1):The employer did not administer a continuing, effective hearing conservation program as described in 29 CFR 1910.95(c) through (o) whenever employee noise exposures equaled or exceeded an 8-hour time-weighted average sound level (TWA) of 85 decibels measured on the A scale, or equivalently a dose of fifty percent:  (a) In the sawmill, an edger operator was exposed to noise at 569.2% of the permissible 8-hour TWA (90 dBA).  The equivalent dBA level of 569.2% is approximately 102.5 dBA.  Sampling was performed for 459 minutes during one shift.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 21 minutes.  (b) In the sawmill, a slab stacker was exposed to noise at 264.1% of the permissible 8-hour TWA (90 dBA).  The equivalent dBA level of 264.1% is approximately 97.0 dBA.  Sampling was performed for 466 minutes during one shift.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 14 minutes.  (c) In the sawmill, a lumber stacker was exposed to noise at 210.5% of the permissible 8-hour TWA (90 dBA).  The equivalent dBA level of 210.5% is approximately 95.3 dBA.  Sampling was performed for 463 minutes during one shift.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 17 minutes.  (d) In the sawmill, a timber stacker/edger operator was exposed to noise at 207.4% of the permissible 8-hour TWA (90 dBA).  The equivalent dBA level of 207.4% is approximately 95.2 dBA.  Sampling was performed for 465 minutes during one shift.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 15 minutes.  (e) In the sawmill, a timber stacker was exposed to noise at 128.4% of the permissible 8-hour TWA (90 dBA).  The equivalent dBA level of 128.4% is approximately 91.8 dBA.  Sampling was performed for 465 minutes during one shift.  Zero exposure was assumed for the unsampled period of 15 minutes.
