29 CFR 1926.501(b)(1):Each employee on a walking/working surface with an unprotected side or edge which was 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above a lower level was not protected from falling by the use of guardrail systems, safety net systems, or personal fall arrest systems. On the north side of the construction site, employees engaged in decking work without fall protection were exposed to unprotected fall hazards of approximately 9 feet to the ground below.

On the north side of the construction site, an employee operating a Makita skill saw with the lower guard wedged in the up position while cutting framing material.
