On or about December 29, 2021, and at times prior thereto, workers performed work on a roof without frequent and periodic inspections by a person competent in recognizing fall hazards, exposing the workers to the hazard of falling over 9 feet to the ground below.

29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer did not ensure that each affected employee used appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation. On or about December 29, 2021, workers were using pneumatic nail guns to secure shingles to a roof without wearing eye protection, exposing the workers to the hazard of being struck in the eye(s) by flying debris or projectiles. Martin Mateo-Guzman was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.102(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1235283, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 07-14-2017, with respect to a workplace located at 10111 Ida Grove Austin, Texas 78717.
