29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) Mountain Meadows Lamb Corporation dba Superior Farms - Denver at 4900 Clarkson Street in Denver, Colorado: On or about January 21, 2022, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure employees, while using bandsaws to cut meat products in the Case Ready department, adjusted the blade guard to account for varying product sizes and prevent unnecessary exposure to the blade. This exposed workers to amputation hazards on the following machines: Bandsaw, Marel 400SS, SN 10440534 Bandsaw, AEW-Thurne LTD 400H, SN 133461S Bandsaw, AEW Deldford 400, SN 1334993

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point(s) of operation of machinery were not guarded to prevent employee(s) from having any part of their body in the danger zone(s) during operating cycle(s): (a) Mountain Meadows Lamb Corporation dba Superior Farms - Denver at 4900 Clarkson Street in Denver, Colorado: On or about January 19 , 2022, and at times prior, the employer did not ensure employees were protected from blade contact while using bandsaws to cut meat products in the Case Ready department. This exposed workers to amputation hazards on the following machines: Bandsaw, Marel 400SS, SN 10440534 Bandsaw, AEW-Thurne LTD 400H, SN 133461S Bandsaw, AEW Deldford 400, SN 1334993 An employee suffered an amputation of the right thumb tip.
