29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: (a) On or about February 17, 2022 and at times prior to that date, for the employees exposed to caught-in and/or struck-by hazards where a Craftsman drill press, model no. 113-213213 was operated in the maintenance shop located at Mile Post 32 Hwy 93, Alamo, Nevada. Notice 2 #, Item 1#, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1) required by 29 CFR 1960.8(b): The employer failed to provide one or more methods of machine guarding to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as rotating parts and flying chips. The employer was cited for a violation of the same standard and same hazard on November 27, 2019, Inspection no. 1444723 date December 24, 2019 of final order, and means of abatement.
