To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that the receiving/storage room is clean and organized.

29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3):Exit route(s) were not kept free and unobstructed: a) The employer fails to ensure effective measures to prevent fire and entrapment hazards as demonstrated on or about March 23, 2022 at 103 South Highway 29 Hogansville, GA, in the receiving/storage room, where employees work the merchandise. The far-left emergency exit door and the exit door between the receiving room and the main sales floor was obstructed by store merchandise, roll-tainers, and U-boats, impeding direct means of egress for employees in the event of an emergency. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that all emergency exit routes are kept unobstructed and free from product to ensure a safe walkway for employees to exit the emergency exit door in case of an emergency.

29 CFR 1910.176(b): Material stored in tiers was not stacked, blocked, interlocked or limited in height so that it was stable and secure against sliding and collapse: a) The employer fails to ensure effective protection against struck-by hazards as required by the standard, as demonstrated on or about March 23, 2022, at 103 South Highway 29 Hogansville, Georgia, in the receiving/storage room, boxes and loose materials were stacked in a way that was unbalanced, unstable, unsecure which could not prevent the merchandise from falling onto or in the path of employees. Product was stacked at heights greater than 9 feet and leaning. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that the receiving room has stable and secure material and product in that the material is stored in tiers that is stacked, blocked, interlocked, and limited to a height to prevent the product and material from sliding or collapsing onto employees when they try to remove or grab the material to restock the store.

The Dolgencorp LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1455672, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on 5/13/2020, with respect to a workplace located at 40976 AL 77 South, ASHLAND, AL 36251. The Dollar General Corporation was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.305(g)(1)(iv)(A), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1283802, citation number 1, item number 2 and was affirmed as a final order on 1/23/2018, with respect to a workplace located at 2222 Texoma Pkwy Sherman, TX 75090.
