OSHA opens inspections for many reasons — routine scheduling under a national or local emphasis program, an employee complaint or referral, or a follow-up after a reported injury. 29 CFR 1926.200(g)(1): Construction areas were not posted with legible traffic signs at points of hazards: (a) On or about March 27, 2022, the employer did not provide the requisite advance warning sign to warn road users of the presence of flaggers in the construction work zone on Dahlia street at 74th in Commerce City. Flaggers were positioned in advance of the flagger road signs. This condition exposed employees working in and around the work zone to a struck-by hazard. Abatement Note: Among other methods, a feasible and acceptable abatement method to correct this hazard is to ensure proper placement of the advance warning sign. This abatement method is depicted in Part VI of the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) Millennium Edition in Section 6E.08, "Except in emergency situations, flagger stations shall be preceded by an advance warning sign or signs."
