29 CFR 1910.134(k): Training and information. This paragraph requires the employer to provide effective training to employees who are required to use respirators. The training must be comprehensive, understandable, and recur annually, and more often if necessary. This paragraph also requires the employer to provide the basic information on respirators in Appendix D of this section to employees who wear respirators when not required by this section or by the employer to do so. (1) The employer shall ensure that each employee can demonstrate knowledge of at least the following: (i) Why the respirator is necessary and how improper fit, usage, or maintenance can compromise the protective effect of the respirator; (vi) How to recognize medical signs and symptoms that may limit or prevent the effective use of respirators; and (vii) The general requirements of this section. a) On or about April 4, 2022, employees required to wear N95 respirators such as but not limited to the Makrite Sekura, Makrite 9500, and 3M brand had not been provided training that they were to wear respirators for which they were fit tested, training on the medical signs and symptoms that may limit their respirator usage and to report this to their supervisor, and training on the general requirements of this section.

Each employer required by this Part to keep records of fatalities, injuries, and illnesses must record each fatality, injury and illness that: is work-related; and is a new case; and meets one or more of the general recording criteria of �1904.7 or the application to specific cases of ��1904.8 through 1904.12.
