29 CFR 1910.184(c)(14):The employer allowed for slings without affixed and legible identification markings to be used: On or about April 11, 2022 the employer did not ensure that synthetic web slings used in the workplace for material handling contained legible identification markings. A synthetic web sling was used by a lathe operator to transport, maneuver, and set steel bar in their work area. An overhead crane and hoist was used in conjunction with the sling.

29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a) On or about April 11, 2022 the employer did not ensure that effective machine guarding was in place on the Decap Cuttoff Saw. Employees are exposed to both the clamping/ hold down mechanisms as well as the metal cutting blade itself during operations. Employees are able to and do open the door during production to load or ensure material is loaded. The doors do not contain safety interlocks and are able to be opened during operation. Additionally, the doors open before the blade has come to a complete stop. b) On or about April 11, 2022 the employer did not ensure that effective machine guarding was in place on the OKK KCV 600 CNC machine (#700). Employees are exposed to the moving machine components of the cnc machine during operation as a result of the doors being able to be opened. At the time of inspection the doors did not contain interlock mechanisms that either prohibit the opening of the doors or stop the machine in the event they are opened. Nordson Xaloy Incorporated was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1)which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1392187, citation number 2, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on June 25, 2019 with respect to a workplace located at 375 Victoria Road, Austintown, OH.. Nordson Xaloy Incorporated was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1)which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1363167, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on January 7, 2019 with respect to a workplace located at 375 Victoria Road, Austintown, OH.
