29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employers shall provide employees with effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment, and whenever a new chemical hazard the employees have not previously been trained about is introduced into their work area. Information and training may be designed to cover categories of hazards (e.g., flammability, carcinogenicity) or specific chemicals. Chemical-specific information must always be available through labels and safety data sheets. On or about April 21, 2022, employees were using chemicals to add to the zinc line. Employees transfer chemicals manually in the morning for about 30 minutes a day. Employees were exposed to chemical hazards associated with the zinc line. Some employees operate propane powered forklifts. The employer did not train these employees on the hazard communication program. Abatement documentation is required for this item in accordance with the requirements in 29 CFR 1903.19(d).
