OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to crushed-by hazards while salvaging parts from under the vehicles supported on top of two vans. a) On or about May 6, 2022, Quick Parts did not ensure that employees performing manual picking operations on salvaged vehicles were protected from crush-by hazards in that employees were required to collect salvageable parts from under the vehicles stacked on top of two vans. Among others, one feasible and acceptable method to correct this hazard includes, but is not limited to the following: 1.)Utilizing engineered vehicle garage lifts to support vehicles during the collection of salvageable material. 2) Utilizing engineered metal racking to suspend and support vehicles during the collection of salvageable material.

Vegetation control will be exercised when necessary. On or about May 6, 2022, Quick Parts did not ensure that their back storage room was kept free from the accumulation of material that constituted a fire, tripping, and explosion hazard in that the storage room was used to store, test, and charge approximately 102 salvaged lead acid batteries.
