OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1):Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act:  The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were exposed to crush by hazards:  On or about 5/12/2022 at a residential worksite located at 56 Dunn Hill Road, Tolland, CT, the employer failed to protect employees from crushing hazards.  An employee was performing tree removal operations using an Avant 528 articulated compact loader with a timber grab attachment with the boom raised overhead on a cross slope.  The employee was attempting to lift a 12' maple log when the loader rolled on its side crushing the victim's leg.  Instances of failure include, but not limited to:  a. Operator raising the boom too high when on a cross slope.  b. Operator not keeping the load as close to the loader as possible.  c.  Operator making too aggressive and sudden movements on controls.
