29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1):Types of guarding. One or more methods of machine guarding shall be provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks. Examples of guarding methods are-barrier guards, two-hand tripping devices, electronic safety devices, etc. a) On or about May 3, 2022, with respect to an establishment located at 826 Vanderbraak Street, Green Bay, WI 54302, employees were exposed to potential caught-in hazards when the nip point between the tooling mechanism of the Wohlenberg Hannover Type VM 1250 CNC Lathe and a fixed point of the lathe was not guarded to prevent access to the hazard area. b) On or about May 17, 2022, with respect to an establishment located at 826 Vanderbraak Street, Green Bay, WI 54302, employees were exposed to potential entanglement hazards when the rotating chuck of the Wohlenberg Hannover Type VM 1250 CNC Lathe was not equipped with a guard to prevent access to the rotating part during operation.
