Storage areas shall be kept free from accumulation of materials that constitute hazards from tripping, fire, explosion, or pest harborage: a) In the storage/receiving room, located at 250 Pooler Parkway, Pooler, GA 31322, on or about May 16, 2022, the employer exposed employees to slip/trip/fall hazards, in that the employer allowed broken down cardboard boxes and rubbish to accumulate where employees worked, due to the compactor being out of service.

To abate this hazard, the employer must ensure that egress routes are kept clear of merchandise, boxes of product, and roll-tainers. b) The employer fails to ensure effective measures to prevent fire and entrapment hazards as demonstrated on or about May 16, 2022, in the front of the store, where employees move, work and stock product. To abate this hazard, the employer must ensure that egress routes are kept clear of shopping carts, merchandise, boxes of product, and roll-tainers. T.J. Maxx was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard, 29 CFR1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1376363, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on May 18, 2020 with respect to a workplace located at 11111-16 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32223.

Maxx was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard, 29 CFR1910.176(b) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1558400, citation number 1, item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on January 28, 2022 with respect to a workplace located at 5001 North Big Hollow Road, Peoria, IL 61614.
