OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees:  In the fabrication area of the worksite located at 1921 West US Highway 50, Lone Jack, Missouri, employees are exposed to laceration hazards associated with meat processing production. This was most recently documented on May 17, 2022 where employees repeatedly place their face and neck adjacent to the cutting blade of the Jarvis Buster IV saw contrary to the guidance directions provided by the manufacturer.  Among other methods, feasible and acceptable abatement methods to correct this hazard are:  The employer can provide a metal push stick for the employee to use in an effort to push the meat down the ramp, using the stick underneath the saw instead of through the open area of the saw.  The employer can utilize a conveyor/rolling wheel to push the meat down the ramp to the next area of processing.   The employer can provide the employee with additional area on both the left and right, to move the saw out of the ramp area in an effort to hand push the meat down the ramp without the exposure to reaching through and over the saw.

29 CFR  1910.37(a)(3):Exit routes were not kept free and unobstructed:  At a worksite located at 1921 West US Highway 50, Lone Jack, MO 64070, an employer exposed employees to burns, smoke inhalation, and other fire related injuries.  The employer exposed the employees to these hazards by allowing the employees to work in an area near an emergency exit that was not kept free and unobstructed.

29 CFR  1910.303(b)(7)(i):Unused openings in boxes, raceways, auxiliary gutters, cabinets, equipment cases, or housings were not effectively closed to afford protection substantially equivalent to the wall of the equipment.  At a worksite located at 1921 W. US-HWY 50, Lone Jack, MO, 64070, an employer exposed employees to electrical hazards that included electrocution and electric shock.  The hazards were present due to the use of an electrical outlet inside an outlet box that was missing two knockouts.

29 CFR  1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks:   The employer is failing to protect employees from amputation hazards associated with exposed blades when processing beef in the fabrication area.  This was most recently documented on May 17, 2022 at the worksite located at 1921 West US Highway 50, Lone Jack Missouri.  Employees were using a band saw with an exposed blade to cut portions of beef during the beef processing method.  ZMDR LLC, doing business as Republic Foods, was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1910.212(a)1, which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1478081, citation number 1, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on 9/14/2021, with respect to a workplace located at 1921 West US Highway 50, Lone Jack, Missouri.
