29 CFR  1910.22(a)(1): The employer does not ensure that all places of employment, passageways, storerooms, service rooms, and walking-working surfaces are not kept in a clean, orderly, and sanitary condition:  a) The employer fails to ensure effective measures to prevent slip, trip and fall hazards, as demonstrated on or about May 23, 2022, and times prior, in the main store front area, where aisles were cluttered with product, boxes of product, and other materials.   b) The employer fails to ensure effective measures to prevent slip, trip and fall hazards, as demonstrated on or about May 23, 2022, and times prior,  in the stockroom, where employees move and receive stock. The stockroom was overpacked with boxes of product, U-boats, and roll-tainers such that there was no aisle or path for walking.   Family Dollar Stores, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1910.22 (a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1480377, Citation number 1, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on May 24, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 181 Straight Street, Paterson, NJ 07501.  Family Dollar Stores, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard 29 CFR 1910.22(a)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1480368, Citation number 1, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on May 17, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 500 Getty Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07011.  Family Dollar Stores, Inc. dba Family Dollar Stores of Alabama, LLC was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1417487, Citation number 1, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on September 13, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at 3407 Pulaski Pike NW, Huntsville, AL 35810.  To abate this hazard in the future, the employer must ensure that boxes of product, empty boxes, U-boats, and roll-tainers are kept in an orderly manner.

During the inspection, the stockroom area was filled with merchandise and products blocking the exit route.   Family Dollar Stores, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1480368, citation number 3, item number 2, and was affirmed as a final order on May 17, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 550 Getty Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07011.  Family Dollar Stores, Inc. dba Family Dollar was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard, 29 CFR 1910.37(a)(3), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1435006, Citation number 1, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on January 6, 2020, with respect to a workplace located at 1301 Edward Street, Hattiesburg, MS 39401.  To abate this hazard in the future , the employer must ensure that emergency exit routes are kept free and unobstructed.

One of the cylinders of compressed gas was not secured and was observed standing upright.  Family Dollar Stores, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 29 CFR 1910.101(b) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1480377, Citation number 3, Item number 1, and was affirmed as a final order on May 24, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 181 Straight Street Patterson, NJ 07501.  Family Dollar Stores. Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this Occupational Safety and Health Standard 29 CFR 1910.101(b) which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1480368, citation number 3, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on May 17, 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 550 Getty Avenue, Clifton, NJ 07011.
