29 CFR  1926.501(b)(13):"Residential construction." Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system unless another provision in paragraph (b) of this section provides for an alternative fall protection measure.   On or about May 24, 2022, employees conducting soffit installation operations on the upper level of a residential single-family property were exposed to fall hazards of approximately 12.8' when the employer failed to ensure that fall protection was utilized.   The employer was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1535499, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on November 2. 2021, with respect to a workplace located at 15716 Portage Ln., Plainfield, Illinois 60544.  The employer name was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 1386663, citation number 1, item number 1 and was affirmed as a final order on June 4, 2019, with respect to a workplace located at15532 Indian Boundary Rd., Plainfield, Illinois 60585.  No abatement certification or documentation is required for this item.
