29 CFR 1926.652(a)(1):Each employee in an excavation shall be protected from cave-ins by an adequate protective system designed in accordance with paragraph (b) or (c) of this section: On or about June 8, 2022, during the replacement of a waterline at a worksite located at 2000 Brittain Road, Akron, Ohio, the employer did not ensure employees working inside a trench, at a varying depth of approximately 6.0 to 6.5 feet, were protected from cave-ins by an adequately designed protection system. The soil would have been classified as; Cohesive Soil, Type "B".
