29 CFR 1910.1200(g)(8):The employer did not maintain in the workplace copies of the required safety data sheets for each hazardous chemical and did not ensure that they were readily accessible during each work shift to employees when they were in their work area(s). Bldg. 200: Numerous employees working in areas such as, but not limited to, the 2nd floor staff work areas, hallways, offices, and patient procedure areas, became ill after being exposed to asphalt vapors, necessitating evacuation of the workplace. The vapors were produced by an outside contractor during a re-roofing project on top of building 200 and drawn into the building via the air intake unit. One employee went to the hospital for medical treatment. Safety data sheets were not readily available or provided to employees upon request or in a reasonable time period. Employees were exposed to the health hazards of asphalt vapors.
