29 CFR 1910.212(a)(3)(ii): Point of operation guards were not designed and constructed as to prevent the operator from having any part of their body in the danger zone during the operating cycle. 1. On or about July 19, 2022 and at times prior to, an employee was performing metal fabrication operations while using a metal bending/press within a robot cell without proper guards installed on the machine, exposing the employee to struck-by hazards. 2. On or about July 19, 2022 and at times prior to, an employee was performing paint drum crushing duties of 55-gallon drums by using a hydraulic drum crusher while using a magnet to bypass the safety interlock on the drum crusher to allow the hydraulic ram to stay in the upward position while still allowing full operation of the drum crusher, exposing the employee to struck-by hazards.
