OSH ACT of 1970 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from fire/explosion hazards associated with working in vicinity to spark producing grinding operations occurring near potentially flammable material. (a) Pit Area: On July 8, 2022, employees were exposed to fire hazards while working in proximity to spark producing grinding operations that occurred next to the wet pit that contained potentially flammable material such as heavy oil base liquids.
