Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels shall be protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, or personal fall arrest system. The employer was failing to protect employees from fall hazards while performing residential construction activities. This was most recently observed at 3903 Arbor St., Omaha, NE 68105 on August 30th, 2022, where the employer had employees working directly adjacent to an unprotected edge of a residential structure.

29 CFR 1926.1053(b)(1): When portable ladders are used for access to an upper landing surface, the ladder side rails shall extend at least 3 feet (.9 m) above the upper landing surface to which the ladder is used to gain access. The employer was failing to protect employees from fall hazards while performing residential construction activities. This was most recently observed at 8207 N 167th Ave., Omaha, NE 68101 on August 31st, 2022, where the employer has employees accessing and egressing a roof from an extension ladder that does not extend 3 feet above the surface that is being accessed.
