29 CFR 1926.102(a)(1): The employer shall ensure that each affected employee uses appropriate eye or face protection when exposed to eye or face hazards from flying particles, molten metal, liquid chemicals, acids or caustic liquids, chemical gases or vapors, or potentially injurious light radiation. a. 32 -34 Oakland Avenue, Jersey City, NJ Employees used hand tools such as but not limited to hand grinder and driller without wearing eye or face protection. The employees used hand tools to drill holes and cut concrete bricks on a residential building under construction. Violation observed 09/02/2022

29 CFR 1926.451(e)(1): When scaffold platforms were more than 2 feet (0.6 m) above or below a point of access, portable ladders, hook-on ladders, attachable ladders, stair towers (scaffold stairways/towers), stairway-type ladders (such as ladder stands), ramps, walkways, integral prefabricated scaffold access, or direct access from other scaffold, structure, personnel hoist, or similar surface was not used. Crossbraces were used as a means of access. a. 32 -34 Oakland Avenue, Jersey City, New Jersey The employer did not ensure a safe means of access to scaffold working platforms. Employees worked from tubular welded scaffolding approximately 6 ft. above the ground without an access ladder to working level, while performing masonry work. Employees were observed using a scaffold frame as a ladder and used the scaffold frames and cross braces as a means of access. Violation observed 09/02/2022
