29 CFR 1910.1030(e)(3)(i): Each research laboratory did not contain a facility for hand washing or an eye wash facility which was readily available within the work area: a) Clinic: On or about October 17, 2022, and at times prior, employees did not have access to a compliant emergency eye wash facility while collecting and analyzing blood samples from clients. Eyewash bottles were expired at the time of inspection. The expiration dates listed were as follows, hallway eyewash station 09/2022; eyewash bottle next to preparation room sink, 12/2021. Employees have potential eye exposure to infectious material in the following situations including, but not limited to: when drawing blood samples, handling sample vials and containers, and transferring samples from collection media for analysis. Note: Recommended Abatement Action - Installation of an emergency eyewash complaint with the requirements of ANSI Z358.1.

29 CFR 1910.1030(d)(4)(iii)(A)(1)(iv): Contaminated sharps were not discarded immediately or as soon as feasible in containers that were labeled or color-coded in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.1030(g)(1)(i): a) Room 3: On or about October 17, 2022, and at times prior containers used for discarded sharps were not labeled with biohazard markings. Two 3.5-liter urine sample collection containers without biohazard markings, containing sharps and used tubing were observed. b) Room 5: On or about October 17, 2022, and at times prior containers used for discarded sharps were not labeled with biohazard markings. Five 3.5-liter urine sample collection containers without biohazard markings, containing sharps and used tubing were observed.
