29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: On or about October 27, 2022, the employer did not ensure that the unused portion of the exposed blade was guarded against contact when employees were cutting hoses on the Jet 16" vertical band saw in grinding room. Employees had their fingers and hands exposed to an amputation hazard while cutting hoses in close proximity to the running blade. There is no abatement certification or documentation required for this item.
